Prigozhin reported that Menshikov at the front line “effectively and courageously defended the interests of the Motherland” and showed “incredible courage in combat operations.” He was posthumously awarded the Medal for Courage.
“We ensured that Dmitry Menshikov, a Wagner PMC fighter, was buried on the Alley of Heroes of the Beloostrovsky cemetery, which he indicated in his dying will,” the message says.
The funeral will take place on December 24th.
Prigozhin previously wrote an appeal to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in which he complained that the administration of St. Petersburg had refused to bury a Wagner fighter on the Walk of Fame.
