State Duma deputy from United Russia (UR) Sergei Sokol, who submitted an application to resign as deputy, will continue to work in Khakassia. He himself reported this in Telegram.

He clarified that he will return to work on Monday, September 18. “I promised that I would stay to live and work in the republic. And I will keep my word… There are a few organizational and personnel issues left to resolve. This will happen in the coming days,” said Mr. Sokol.

Sergei Sokol was registered as a candidate for governor of the Republic of Khakassia in the elections held in September. He was forced to take off from them due to health problems. He cited complications after an operation he underwent in July due to peritonitis. Yesterday, September 15th, he filed resignation letter.

In the elections of regional heads held in Russia in early September, the communist leader of Khakassia, Valentin Konovalov, showed the worst result among all current governors (63%).
