The subject “Social Studies” will be taught in schools in high school, and not from the 6th-7th grade, as now. This was reported by Senator, Deputy Head of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture of the Federation Council Ekaterina Altabaeva. According to her, work is already underway to change the program and prepare a new textbook.

“We have been teaching this subject since the 6th and 7th grades, now it will be promoted to the senior level. But the main thing is not this, but the fact that the program is already changing. Because its content does not correspond to the sovereign education system, the unified educational process that we are now building,” the senator said in an interview with Sputnik in Crimea.

According to the senator, changes to the redistribution of hours in the school curriculum can be made from September 1, 2024. “They (the clock.— “b”) will most likely be transferred to grades 9–10,” said Ekaterina Altabaeva.

In 2023, about 270 thousand people passed the unified state exam in social studies. In 2022, 267 thousand people took this exam, in 2021 – 307 thousand, in 2020 – 292 thousand.
