Social pensions of Russians will be indexed by 7.5% from April – Kommersant

The size of social pensions of Russians will be increased by 7.5% from April 1, 2024. The government approved the indexation resolution on March 5 (.pdf). Also, from April, state pension provision for certain categories of citizens will be increased by 7.5%. According to government estimates, the measure will affect more than 4 million citizens. The budget of the Social Fund provides almost 37.5 billion rubles for this.
Indexed payments will be received by:
- military personnel and volunteers who have become disabled due to military trauma;
- participants of the Great Patriotic War;
- citizens affected by radiation or man-made disasters.
Citizens who do not have sufficient confirmed experience to calculate an insurance pension (at least 15 years in 2024) have the right to receive social pensions. Payments are also provided to people with disabilities and those who have lost their breadwinner. Registered with the Social Fund of Russia as of January 1, 2024 consisted 41.075 million pensioners
Indexation of social pensions is carried out annually on April 1. Its size is calculated taking into account the growth rate of the cost of living of pensioners over the past year.
