Sochi residents became the winners of the European Championship in Thai boxing

The European Championship in Thai boxing ended in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The Russian team performed successfully at the tournament, winning 90 medals and taking first place in the team standings.
The team from the Krasnodar Territory won 13 awards (8 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze). Thai boxers from Sochi also contributed to the overall success. They won 3 medals in the age category up to 17-23 years. Pupil of sports school No. 3 Kirill Chizhik became the winner in weight up to 54 kilograms (coach E.Yu. Protsenko), and Elizabeth Karartynyan from sports school No. 10 became the best in weight up to 67 kg (coach R.I. Mustafaev). Another participant of the sports school number 3 Sofia Istratova became the owner of a silver medal in the weight up to 48 kg (coach E.Yu. Protsenko)
In the age category of 14-15 years in weight up to 54 kg won Melik Voskanyan (sports school No. 10, coach R.I. Mustafaev).
Director of the city department of physical culture and sports Anatoly Miroshnikov noted that about 2,000 people are involved in Thai boxing in Sochi. This sport is one of the most popular in the Olympic capital.
