The Moscow City Election Commission officially registered Sergei Sobyanin as the elected mayor of Moscow, write RIA Novosti with reference to the decision of the Moscow City Election Commission.

“The Moscow City Election Commission decided <...> Sergei Semenovich Sobyanin, who received 2,499,114 votes, shall be considered elected to the position of mayor of Moscow,” the document notes.

Based on the results of counting 100% of the votes in the Russian Central Election Commission, Sobyanin was supported by 76.39% of voters who took part in the voting. In second place was Leonid Zyuganov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, who received 265,374 votes (8.11%). Next came Boris Chernyshov from the LDPR (183,529 votes, 5.61%), Vladislav Davankov from the New People party (174,869 votes, 5.34%) and the candidate from A Just Russia, Dmitry Gusev (128,701, 3. 93%).

Sobyanin first took the post of mayor of Moscow in 2010 by decision of the Moscow City Duma. In 2012, elections for regional heads were returned to Russia, and in the 2013 elections he received 51.37% of the votes. In 2018, 70.17% of voters voted for him.
