The current mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, after summing up the preliminary results of voting in the mayoral elections, thanked Muscovites for their support and promised to make the capital “even cooler and more beautiful.”
“I will do everything to make our city even cooler and more beautiful. Ahead of the entire planet. We can definitely do this. Because we have the most valuable thing in this world – courageous, talented, hardworking people, Muscovites,” wrote he is on his personal blog.
Sobyanin dialed about 2 million votes in online voting; in total, 3.3 million voters took part in the Moscow mayoral elections.
From September 8 to 10, 4,270 election campaigns of various levels were held in 85 regions of Russia. Based on their results, more than 33,000 mandates will be filled; over 85,000 candidates from 23 parties have nominated themselves for the elections. Representatives of 20 parties were registered, a total of 81,000 candidates, United Russia had the most candidates, then the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Liberal Democratic Party.
Participating in the election of the head of the capital were the current mayor Sergei Sobyanin (from United Russia), State Duma vice-speakers Vladislav Davankov (from New People) and Boris Chernyshov (from the LDPR), State Duma deputy, head of the Moscow branch of A Just Russia – For Truth » Dmitry Gusev and Moscow City Duma deputy, grandson of the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Leonid Zyuganov.
