On February 20, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the main start-up complex of the Nizhegorodskoye electric depot of the Big Circle Line (BKL) of the Moscow Metro. Its construction began in 2016 on the territory of the former Moscow plant for the modernization and construction of cars named after Voitovich
Sobyanin said that the new facility will serve up to 40% of the BKL metro, which will be launched in the coming days.
“Without this depot, such a launch would not have been possible. There is everything here: from the operation, repair of wagons, to the rest of locomotive crews,” the mayor of the capital noted.
Now about 50 modern trains operate at the BKP, which are served by the Zamoskvoretskoye depot. After the opening of the remaining sections of the line, the number of trains will increase from 18 to 36 pairs per hour. Intervals are planned to be reduced from 3.2 to 1.5-2 minutes during peak hours.
Additional trains will serve the new Aminevskoye depot in the west of Moscow and Nizhegorodskoye in the east.
By February 2023, 115.9 thousand square meters of production space had been built. These are the main and settling and repair buildings, motor depots, car washes and other facilities. It is expected that the maintenance of trains will be carried out according to the life cycle contact, which will make it possible to improve the quality of train repairs and reduce its cost by 15%. The depot has more than 900 jobs.
