Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin invited Moscow residents to vote on the Active Citizen portal regarding the cancellation of New Year’s festivities. Mr. Sobyanin noted that the proceeds from their holding can be used to support the military operation. His post about it is published on site mayor of Moscow.
In his opinion, the holding of New Year’s events in Moscow “will make it possible to send many times more to support” the military operation in Ukraine. Sergei Sobyanin also suggested organizing charity fairs in the city during the New Year holidays to support the affected areas and dedicate the holiday to the military and people who ensure the work of the army.
“Maybe there is no need to finish off small businesses that employ millions of people with artificial restrictions,” he added.
“I’m sure there is no need to buy new New Year’s constructions, but in general the city should be decorated and welcoming. So that Muscovites have the opportunity not only to sit at home feasts, but also take a walk around the city, chat with each other. Charge yourself with a good New Year and Christmas mood, ”wrote Sergei Sobyanin.
Earlier, a number of Russian regions announced the cancellation of the New Year holidays due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine and partial mobilization. New Year’s Eve events canceled St. Petersburg. AT Novosibirskchosen as the New Year’s capital of Russia, fireworks were canceled.
