Sobyanin held the technical launch of the last section of the Big Circle Line of the metro

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the Bolshaya Koltsevaya metro line would be fully open in “a couple of months”. He carried out a technical launch of the last eastern section of the BCL – from the Kashirskaya station to the Nizhegorodskaya station.
BKL is the world’s largest metro construction project. The line will include 31 stations and 3 depots. Its length will be 70 km.
“Congratulations on a big event in the Moscow metro — on the completion of the construction of the last ten-kilometer section of the BKL metro, the largest project in history. Now we are starting commissioning, and in a couple of months the big ring will close,” said Mr. Sobyanin (quote from Moscow 24).
The mayor’s office expects that the new stations will improve transport services for residents and workers in eight districts, where about 800,000 people live. It is predicted that the travel time for them will be reduced to 80% or 45 minutes.
After the launch of the entire LCL in the first quarter of 2023, the city authorities will most likely adjust the state program for the development of Moscow’s transport, Moscow Vice Mayor Maxim Liksutov told Kommersant in an interview. He explained that the BCL will have “a major positive impact on the entire transport system of the city.”
