Journalist and presenter Ksenia Sobchak issued a statement that she considers the possible initiation of a criminal case against her as an example of pressure on the journalistic community and an attempt to avenge her political position.
In his Telegram channel Sobchak said that during interrogation she was asked if she coordinated questions during a recent interview with director Vitaly Mansky “as part of a criminal group.” The journalist replied that she does not discuss questions with guests and publishes answers without censorship.
Previously materials were sent to the Investigative Committee of Russia to initiate a criminal case against Sobchak for spreading fake news about government.
Prior to this, a criminal libel case was initiated against Mansky, who claimed in an interview with Sobchak that “at least 85% of the budget is stolen” at the Moscow International Film Festival. Sobchak was interrogated in this case as a witness.
