Smuggling of Mongolian oak to China was discovered in Primorye – Kommersant

The Artemovsk City Court of the Primorsky Territory will consider two criminal cases of smuggling Mongolian oak, which is a strategically important resource, into China in the amount of 16.8 million rubles. About it reported Directorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office for the Far Eastern Federal District.
According to the prosecutor’s office, two defendants in the group falsified documents on the legality of timber harvesting, obtained permission to export timber and submitted false declarations to customs. Most of the wood was transported to China by rail.
Criminal cases have been initiated under articles on smuggling of strategically important resources on a large scale (226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and smuggling by an organized group (229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court arrested the property of the accused in the amount of 4.3 million rubles.
