Slutsky sent to the Cabinet of Ministers a bill on the status of veterans of military journalism

LDPR Chairman Leonid Slutsky developed and submitted to the Russian government a bill that provides for the introduction of a new category of “veteran of war journalism” for war correspondents. TASS has the text of this bill.
According to the proposed changes, this category will be included in the law “On Veterans”. Veterans of military journalism will also be provided with benefits and compensation similar to social support measures for combat veterans. These measures include reimbursement of utility costs, priority medical care, provision of prosthetics, and the ability to take time off at a time convenient for the veteran.
“People need objective information about events, and to do this, journalists must go into conflict zones. This is a dedicated, high-risk job. We are committed to providing journalists with combat veteran status, guarantees and payments in the event of injury, injury or death, as well as support and protection for their families,” added Slutsky in an interview with TASS.
He also noted that the bill proposes to include as veterans of military journalism media editorial staff who were repeatedly sent to perform assignments in special conditions, including the territories of Ukraine, Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics from February 24, 2022, as well as the territories of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions from September 30 2022.
