Slutsky ruled out negotiations with Kyiv after the annexation of Donbass to Russia

After the entry of Donbass into Russia, negotiations with Ukraine will become impossible. This statement was made by the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Leonid Slutsky.

“Speech about negotiations, unfortunately, can not be for a long time. The West and the junta driven by it in Kyiv have declared that they are not ready for negotiations,” said the deputy (quote according to TASS).

Slutsky stressed that earlier the Russian side was ready for negotiations, but in response, the Ukrainian authorities stated that the only possible solution to the conflict would be Russia’s “capitulation”.

On the eve of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov declaredthat it will not be possible to resolve the crisis in Ukraine through diplomacy. Last week, he also said that the Kremlin sees no prospects for negotiations with the Kyiv authorities. “We still state the absence of any prerequisites for such negotiations,” he stressed.

At the end of August Slutsky notedthat Russia is ready to start negotiations with Ukraine in case of its surrender and denazification. The politician stressed that there could be no other conditions for the resumption of the negotiation process.

Since the beginning of the special operation, Russia and Ukraine have held negotiations several times. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus in February-March, and the fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue was held on March 29 in Istanbul. Later the process was frozen. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, Ukraine actually withdrew from the negotiations.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that if referendums were held in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kyiv would refuse to negotiate with Moscow.

On September 20, the authorities of the DPR, LPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions announced that referendums on the issue of joining the regions to Russia would be held from September 23 to 27. At the same time, in the Zaporozhye region, voting will take place only in the territories controlled by Russia.

The Public Chambers of the LPR and the DPR turned to the heads of the republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin on September 19 with a request to hold referendums on joining the Russian Federation. After that, Pushilin suggested that Pasechnik synchronize the actions of the authorities of the two republics.

On September 20, with a similar request, the public council of the Kherson region turned to the head of the pro-Russian CAA Volodymyr Saldo, as well as members of the “We are with Russia” movement to the head of the CAA of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky. Later, the holding of referendums was approved.
