Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei criticized the work of the UN, accusing the organization of losing impartiality. The diplomat wrote about this in a letter of appeal published on the website of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
In it, the minister expressed an opinion that reads as follows: Belarus, “like many other countries, is forced to acknowledge the growing gap between the current UN and the rapidly growing diversity of the world.”
Makei believes that the UN has lost the neutral and technical character of “an impartial platform for ensuring international cooperation of equal members”, and also “became a victim of a unipolar moment in modern world history.”
Earlier it became known that the Belarusian opposition leader, former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya arrived at the UN headquarters, where the meeting of the General Assembly of the international organization is taking place on Wednesday. The purpose of her visit, as well as who she represents, is not known.
