“Slow suicides”: a political scientist predicted Europe’s reaction to Ukraine’s restriction of Russian speakers

In Ukraine, the use of the Russian language has again been tightened. This time, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on national minorities, limiting the language of the Russian-speaking population. About why he does this and what consequences it will have – in the article “MK”.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine submitted to parliament a bill on national minorities, which should ensure compliance with the requirements of the European Commission. On the one hand, the bill implies tightening restrictions on the use of the Russian language, on the other hand, it gives serious concessions to the languages ​​of other national minorities.

At the same time, it was not possible to please Western countries. In Hungary, for example. The bill on national minorities was criticized as infringing on the rights of Hungarians and not meeting modern requirements. As for the Russian language, the Kiev regime invariably continues to try to ruin the life of the population of Ukraine, who speak predominantly Russian. Thus, forced Ukrainization continues, including the destruction of common history and the demolition of monuments

Political scientist and member of the public organization “The Other Ukraine” Denis Zharkikh believes that the issue here is not the language or even the Russian Federation. The main goal is to confuse people so that they do not feel like citizens of their own country.

“This is the meaning of Ukrainization,” the expert believes, “Even if everyone suddenly learns the Ukrainian language and switches to it, which is impossible, because this requires conditions that do not exist, and serious time: about 200 years. They will switch into English and other languages ​​- even into gibberish. The main task is to bend the citizen to death, since Ukrainization is carried out even by non-ethnic Ukrainians. Are Zelensky, Danilov, Arakhamia ethnic Ukrainians? They grabbed hold of the Ukrainian language because it’s easier to “knock people out of the saddle,” break down discontent, and take away rights. The country has three-quarters of Russian speakers, this law will bring the population “to its knees.”

– Will this somehow change the attitude of Ukrainians towards the Russian Federation and its citizens?

– It won’t have any impact, because this is the native language of the majority of the country’s citizens. All this is directed against the Ukrainian citizen, and the Russian Federation is neither warm nor cold because it has no prohibitions, including on the Ukrainian language.

– Will this law actually work or will Ukrainians simply ignore it?

“They can’t ignore it.” They cannot contact government agencies in Russian, teach in Russian, or carry out any activities. By and large, they don’t speak Ukrainian, but they mutter and mutter something, because, in general, there is no culture of the language. Even in Soviet times this language was artificial. In the end, it will end the same as in Crimea or Donbass, where the Ukrainian language was instantly forgotten and no one uses it. The situation will get worse, because if a person is forced to do something, then on the contrary he will begin to do something opposite, considering such actions as an attack on his freedom.

– Will this law actually work or will Ukrainians simply ignore it?

The policy of modern Zelensky itself provoked the SVO, where to go next? It can’t be any other way. What can you negotiate with Zelensky, who himself is a Russian-speaking person and is leading Ukrainization. You can talk about something only when this power leaves.

– What reaction might there be from European countries to this undemocratic bill?

– What do you want from Europe, which is fighting for peace by supplying shells? It’s complete madness there. Europe is now destroying itself; it is unable to defend any democratic principles. Opposition TV channels were closed in Ukraine, where is Europe? Ukraine declares citizens traitors without trial, where is Europe? Monuments of art are being destroyed, books in Russian are being burned, like during fascism, where is Europe? There is no need to think of them as better than they are, to think that they can be moral judges or authorities. There are normal people there, but they are not in power, and no one listens to them. They are engaged in slow suicide and should not be disturbed.
