SKIF handball players finished fifth at the Lavrov Cup

Krasnodar SKIF took 5th place at the pre-season handball tournament in Stavropol. Traditional competitions have been held in memory of the Honored Coach of Russia Viktor Lavrov since 2018. 8 teams participated in the tournament, most of them play in the Russian Superleague.
For SKIF, these were the first test matches in the off-season. At the group stage of the Lavrov Cup in the first match, the team of Dmitry Karlov defeated the silver medalist of the last Russian championship CSKA Moscow – 27:26. In the next game, the Chekhov Bears, the undisputed champions of Russia in recent years, beat the Krasnodar team big – 36:26. In the final match of the group, SKIF defeated the Volgograd “Kaustik” – 35:31. After CSKA’s victory over the Chekhov Bears, three teams had 4 points each, and SKIF remained only third in terms of goal difference.
On the last day of the tournament, Krasnodar met in a play-off with the third team of another group – Belarusian SKA-Minsk. The main time of the match ended in a draw 27:27. And in the penalty shootout, SKIF won 31:28 and took 5th place in the tournament.
The most successful SKIF players in the tournament were the team’s newcomers Ruslan Dashko and Timofey Maslennikov, as well as the club’s graduate Tran Xuan Viet.
The winners were the hosts of the competition handball players “Viktor”, who defeated the “Chekhov Bears” in the final.
Formerly women’s handball club “Kuban” won tournament in Tolyatti.
