Ski jumping season opened in the south of Sakhalin

In the sports school of the Olympic reserve of winter sports (SSHOR ZVS) on December 28, the sports season for ski jumping was opened. On the first day of the competition, 80 flying skiers from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Uglegorsk took part, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
“I am glad to welcome everyone to the opening of the winter season. I think that each of you has already set a goal for yourself: for example, to fulfill a new standard, to receive a sports category. I wish you success and congratulations on the upcoming holidays,” Mikhail Shamsutdinov, director of the ZVS School of Sports, addressed the athletes.
Pupils of the sports school of the initial training group (age 7-11 years old) competed on the K-10 springboard. Athletes competed according to the standard program: one trial jump and two in standings.
“The maximum score for a jump is 20 points. If an athlete jumps with errors, then points are removed. These are bent legs, abducted arms, lowered head, in general, incorrect execution of the jump. They add points, for example, for the excellent formation of the position – an athlete flying like a torpedo, cutting through the air with open eyes and a smile, ”said Sergey Savelyev, president of the regional ski jumping federation, coach-teacher of the SSOR of winter sports.
On Thursday, December 29, flying skiers aged 11-15 will open the winter season. They will compete on the K-25 and K-35 ski jumps.
