Skiing competitions in memory of Veniamin Kudrin will be held in the Kotlas District. Traditional cross-country skiing at a distance of 30 kilometers will be held in the village of Shipitsyno on January 28.

A native of Shipitsyno, Veniamin Kudrin was included in the team of the Trud voluntary sports society in 1959 and became the winner at the championship of the association at distances of 30 and 50 kilometers. In the same year, the athlete was awarded the title of Master of Sports of the USSR. In 1960, Veniamin Kudrin was included in the USSR national team, in which he played for five years. At the 1961 USSR Championship, our fellow countryman took first place at a distance of 30 kilometers.

During his time as a coach, he prepared the champions of the USSR and the RSFSR, coached the national team of the Arkhangelsk region. He worked at the Department of Physical Culture of the Pomeranian State University. Many of his students became champions of the USSR.

Since 2007, skiing competitions have been held in Shipitsyno in memory of the athlete. On January 28, at the starting glade in the village of Shipitsyno, the issuance of bibs will begin at 10:00, the start of the race at 11:00. The competition program includes distances from 2.5 to 30 kilometers, which athletes will run in the classical style, the press service of the regional government reports.
