On September 11, it became known that lawyers representing the interests of HC SKA from St. Petersburg will challenge the decision of the KHL disciplinary committee, which fined Roman Rotenberg for criticizing the referees in the match against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
Let us remind you that in the first home match of the new season of the KHL regular championship, Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo hosted hockey players from St. Petersburg SKA at their home arena and won with a score of 4:3 in regular time.
A controversial episode occurred at the very end of the meeting, when, according to SKA representatives, the hosts should have remained in the minority on the court, but the Nizhny Novgorod team released their fifth hockey players and defended for a long time.
After the match, the army team’s head coach allowed himself some less than flattering words towards the referees, saying that such mistakes do not happen even in children’s hockey. For the controversy about refereeing, Roman Rotenberg was punished with a fine of 300,000 rubles, but in St. Petersburg they still believe that their head coach will be acquitted.
