The FSB took into custody in Crimea 6 members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir cell (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia). This was reported by the Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the FSB of the country.

According to the service, the arrested were carrying out illegal activities based on the doctrine of the world caliphate, destroying the foundations of secular society and aimed at overthrowing the current government through violence.

“A significant amount of propaganda materials banned in Russia was found and confiscated at the places of residence of MTO members… means of communication… as well as a large sum of money in foreign currency…”, the FSB noted.

Investigators of the FSB department for the republic and Sevastopol opened criminal cases.

In January, on the Crimean peninsula, the FSB detained 9 members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir cell, who were recruiting residents of the country among local Muslims. Their activities were coordinated by the Ukrainian special services.
