Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov admitted that European countries will send troops to Ukraine, but under the guise of PMCs. This is how he commented on the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron that NATO countries are discussing the possibility of sending troops to the Northwestern Military District zone, but have not yet reached a consensus.

“Here the situation, as they say, is what you want and what you want, and your mother doesn’t tell you to,” Sivkov noted. He explained that political stability was beginning to collapse in Ukraine, which would entail destabilization of the army.

“This will be a disaster for the West,” the expert emphasized, adding that this is why the West is talking about the need to do something, but difficulties arise in how to formalize the participation of NATO countries in the conflict.

According to Sivkov, there is no consensus among Western countries, because any of the options for sending troops to Ukraine carries risks. If this is presented as a war between NATO and the Russian Federation, then this implies the participation of the United States, and Washington does not want this, since such a conflict will inevitably escalate into an exchange of nuclear strikes. And if this is a local conflict involving individual European countries, then the West is guaranteed to fail, which will entail serious geopolitical costs.

However, Sivkov suggested, sooner or later Europe will have to raise the stakes and it will begin to transfer parts of regular European armies to Ukraine, but gradually, not openly, but in the format of various PMCs.
