The number of blocked sites with the illegal sale of alcohol in 2022 has doubled compared to 2018, follows from the data provided to Vedomosti by the press service of the Russian Alcohol Regulation (RAR). A representative of Roskomnadzor (RKN) also cited similar statistics on blocking. During 2022, 6,430 resources were blocked in Russia, which contained proposals for the remote sale of alcoholic beverages prohibited by law, follows from the PAP data. In 2018, there were more than half as many such sites – 3163. But in 2019 there were already 4000 of them, and in 2020–2021 there were only – over 5600.
The procedure for blocking a site in the vast majority of cases is carried out by decision of the industry regulator, a representative of the RKN said: when the PAP finds a site with illegal sale of alcohol, it sends the decision to block it to Roskomnadzor, and it already restricts access. But such sites can also be blocked by a court decision, the source said.
