The Sverdlovsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office has begun an investigation into the expulsion of a cat named Twix from the train. The incident occurred immediately after the New Year holidays. The conductor threw the animal out of the carriage directly into the street. She explained her actions by saying that she could not find the owners of the four-legged creature for a long time. And abandoned cats are not supposed to be on rolling stock. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize calls on the authorities to give an objective assessment of the event.
On January 11 of this year, the conductor of the Yekaterinburg-St. Petersburg train threw a cat named Twix out of her charge. The latter traveled accompanied by his owner in a special carrier bag and was allowed to travel in accordance with the purchased ticket, let’s call it a “cat ticket.” The story had a wide public response. It has not yet reached the Kremlin, but some State Duma deputies are already aware.
Animals, of course, have certain mental abilities, but still sometimes they do not understand seemingly elementary things: if you were placed in a certain room and locked, it is for your own good. Sit quietly and everything will be fine. You will reach your destination without any problems.
But no, the cat didn’t understand, he wanted to be free. He got out of this very carrier and went for a walk around the rolling stock, not suspecting any illegal activity on his part. But the law is the law. A cat is not supposed to walk around a public place like this, unaccompanied. What if he is mad or suffers from some other illness?
Be that as it may, the four-legged animal was caught by a carriage driver and dropped off during a stop in Kirov. There is video evidence of this. The management company stood up for the conductor, saying that everything was according to the instructions. And if it claws or bites a person, then they will ask you again. If you are transporting an animal, keep an eye on it. The cat walked around the carriage for four hours, and where did the owners look and what were they doing? Of course, we can guess why, but we won’t do that.
They themselves overlooked it, and the conductor will end up being the last one and will suffer, perhaps not entirely deservedly. Although I feel sorry for the cat, and it is absolutely forbidden to throw him out into the cold. Let the authorities give all this an adequate assessment from the point of view of the law. And there is absolutely no reason for jokes or irony here. The point, in fact, is not about the animal, but about people. In dislike for your neighbor.
Because somewhere, sometimes, through a cat, evil is taken out on people. Or the movers throw suitcases, sometimes on purpose, sometimes they just don’t think that something might break there. Well, maybe it’s good when someone else feels bad? Especially if he lives better than you, or is someone special, not like everyone else. Or when you know that nothing will happen to you for it. But evil and irritation, as well as dislike, do not arise out of nowhere, but are a response to sometimes the same nasty, disdainful attitude towards you.
Everyone has probably traveled on trains; we know what kind of contingent one finds there sometimes. What is the moral? And the fact is that the authorities exist to understand and judge according to justice and the law, and not under the pressure of social networks and an angry community. Although it is, of course, necessary to take into account public opinion, and it’s a pity for the cat. We wish him good health, and perhaps other owners to watch him more closely.
