In the first nine months of 2023, 68 thousand Russians received citizenship or residence permits of other countries, which is twice as many as in the same period last year. The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that during the reporting period, 30 thousand Russians received residence permits in other countries, and 38 thousand received foreign citizenship. In addition to Israel and Turkey, citizens of the Russian Federation most often reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs that they have citizenship or residence permits in Armenia, Germany, the UAE, Ukraine, Spain, Finland, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Cyprus and the USA.
According to calculations by the BBC Russian Service based on open data, in 2022, 155.4 thousand Russians received a residence permit or temporary residence permit in nine countries (Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Montenegro, Finland). .
