The escalation of the conflict began on October 7, when Israel was subjected to a large-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip as part of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, carried out by the military wing of Hamas. In response, the Israeli army launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in Gaza.
During the conflict, Israel controlled the border areas in the south of the country and carried out air strikes on targets, including civilians, in the Gaza Strip. A complete blockade of the sector was declared, the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine and fuel was stopped. According to local authorities, as a result of the conflict, more than 1.4 thousand people were killed, including 300 military personnel, and more than 5 thousand were injured.
