Peskov called for balance in the UN resolution on the Middle East conflict

The Russian version of the UN resolution on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was more balanced than the American one. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov called for continued joint searches for the most balanced option.
“In this case, we need to call on everyone for a ceasefire and we cannot condemn only the actions of one side. Still, the resolution must be balanced, and diplomatic efforts must be continued here,” the presidential press secretary emphasized.
On October 25, Russia and China voted against a resolution proposed by the United States to the UN Security Council on the conflict in the Middle East. New draft resolutions proposed by Russia and the United States condemn the violence and call for the delivery of humanitarian aid. At the same time, Russia calls for “an immediate, sustainable and fully respected ceasefire on humanitarian grounds,” and the US draft emphasizes the right of any country to self-defense. As the UN clarified, the American version does not contain a call for a ceasefire.
On October 9, France, Great Britain, Japan and the United States spoke out against the Russian draft resolution. Brazil also proposed its draft resolution, but the United States vetoed it.
On the morning of October 7, the Gaza-based Palestinian group Hamas began hostilities against Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by launching Operation Iron Swords, striking Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. As a result of the fighting, according to the latest data, about 8,000 people were killed, including more than 6,500 from the Gaza Strip.
