The editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT television channel, Margarita Simonyan, expressed the idea of restoring the nursery system that existed in the Soviet Union as one of the possible steps to solve demographic problems. On the air of the “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” program, she recalled that in the USSR children were accepted into nurseries from the age of two weeks, in contrast to modern kindergartens, where children are accepted from three years of age.
Simonyan noted that modern women are not always ready to give up several years of their career and professional life in order to devote themselves to motherhood. In this regard, she called on the country’s authorities to provide women with the opportunity to use the services of nurseries and return to normal life after the birth of a child.
