April 15 passed rapid tournament, in which 34 chess players from 6 municipalities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Sevastopol took part. Simferopol resident Maxim Ivanov became the winner.
Competitions in memory of D. E. Bekirov include two chess tournaments: rapid chess (rapid: 10 minutes before the end of the game for each player, plus 5 seconds for each move) and blitz (3 minutes before the end of the game for each player, plus 2 seconds for each move).
Jafer Enverovich Bekirov is a well-known sports figure of the Crimea. In 1991, he moved to the peninsula, and from 1992 to 2015 he worked in the Republican Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the ARC (later – the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan). He is known for creating the Arzu women’s field hockey team, but at the same time he also had great respect for chess – with his support, this intellectual sport entered the labor sports days.
Jafer Enverovich passed away last November. And the Crimean chess players have not forgotten him.
