The petrochemical company Sibur is considering the possibility of deploying its own communications network in frequency ranges controlled by the state, but not prohibited for use. This was stated at the ComNews forum on IT and digital technologies of the Russian oil and gas industry Smart Oil & Gas by the General Director of Sibur Connect Rustam Abdrakhmanov. According to him, the creation of such a network, independent of commercial telecom operators, is critically important in emergency situations and when introducing a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime.
“We are now looking at classic technological dedicated networks. We see that the trend for the next 3-5 years will be to use independent technological networks, and now we are working with the SCRF (State Commission on Radio Frequencies – an interdepartmental body under the Ministry of Digital Development, which deals with the distribution of frequencies. – Vedomosti), including for this purpose to understand whether the frequencies can continue to be used and not be turned off in emergency situations.
