48-year-old Russian pop singer Alexander Medvedev, who since the late 90s gained popularity under the stage name Shura thanks to his shocking manner of performance and memorable appearance, responded to critics on the Internet who wrote that such artists have no place in modern Russia.
“I was born, raised, live, lived and will die here!” wrote the singer of the hits “Do Good,” “Cold Moon” and “Summer Rains Have Stopped Noisy.” He added that Russia is his homeland.
The artist admitted that his work is specific, but emphasized that it was precisely because of this that he received gratitude. “My country loved me, accepted me in shorts, makeup, and so on,” the musician noted, advising critics not to destroy themselves with anger.
Let us remember that at the beginning of his career Shura performed in front of his front teeth, but at the beginning of 2003 he inserted dentures. So he survived cancer and 18 chemotherapy sessions, and it took five years for rehabilitation. And in 2018, he also underwent hip replacement surgery.
