Shukshina and Nazarov opened the first monument to Stalin in Velikie Luki

“Generalissimo of Victory” has been looking for his place for three years

In Velikiye Luki, on the territory of the Mikron plant, an 8-meter monument to the Leader of the Nations, Generalissimo Joseph Stalin was solemnly opened and consecrated. The monument was made according to the project of the sculptor Mikhail Krasilnikov at the expense of the people 4 years ago and was originally intended to be installed on the territory of Volgograd, but due to the refusal of local authorities, it was never installed in the hero city. Velikiye Luki is a historical place where the Red Army won the first and strategic victory during the Second World War, as a result of which the city acquired the honorary title of “Small Stalingrad”.

With red flags of Victory and St. George ribbons, about a hundred people gathered for the event. Honored actress Maria Shukshina, guests from the Pridnestrovian Republic, representatives of religious confessions, deputies of local legislative assemblies were among the guests of honor at the opening of the monument. One by one, the speakers announced that “Our cause is just, the enemy will be defeated, victory will be ours!”

“Communism is not bullshit, it is philosophy and methodology,” actor Yuri Nazarov said at the opening of the monument to Stalin. – In a short period of 20-30 years, we have accomplished what the civilized West has been unable to do in centuries.

At the end of his speech, People’s Artist Nazarov read out the lines of the “First Toast” by the Soviet poet Mikhail Isakovsky:

… And the hour has come. And the time has come –

The fate of the earth is decided.

And everything that Stalin predicted

It happened, it happened:

For hundreds of miles, for thousands of miles

All strongholds have fallen.

And so we are the first toast

Let’s rise for Stalin.

As the authors of the monument admitted to MK, they had been planning to install this monument in different cities for several years, but they could not get approval anywhere. The 8-meter bronze monument to Stalin was made back in 2020, and it was offered for installation to almost all heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In response, the authors of the sculpture heard: “Thank you, no need.” And only now, with the support of the director and the labor collective of the plant, a monument to Stalin was erected on the factory territory.

Today, about 10 busts of Stalin have been officially installed in Russia. The first full-length bronze monument to Stalin was unveiled in Velikiye Luki. In addition to the construction of the “Stalin Center” in the Nizhny Novgorod region, in total this year 3-4 new monuments to Stalin may appear in Russia.
