Shoigu: the Ministry of Defense will react extremely harshly to the attacks of Kyiv

The Ministry of Defense will continue to promptly and extremely harshly respond to the actions of Kyiv, similar to the terrorist attack in the Belgorod region. This statement was made by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu during a meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“More than 70 Ukrainian terrorists were destroyed, as well as vehicles and armored vehicles. We will continue to respond promptly and extremely harshly to such actions of Ukrainian militants,” the minister emphasized (quote according to RIA Novosti).

Shoigu specified that on May 22, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) entered Russia through the Kozinka international checkpoint in the Belgorod region. During the CTO, the enemy was blocked and defeated by air strikes, artillery fire and active actions of border guards. The remnants of the militants were forced out into the territory of Ukraine and liquidated, the minister said.

On May 22, the DRG of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Belgorod region. The authorities of the region introduced the regime of counter-terrorist operation, the next day it was removed. As a result of the incident, one resident of the village of Kozinka died, and 13 more people were injured.

The Ministry of Defense linked the incident to the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemovsk. As a result of the CTO, over 70 saboteurs, four combat armored vehicles and five pickup trucks were destroyed, clarified in the department.

In the Kremlin declared that the members of the Ukrainian DRG who entered the territory of Russia are Ukrainian militants. Earlier today, commenting on the use of Western equipment by saboteurs, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that Moscow is aware of the increase in the supply of weapons from the West to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He added that the direct and indirect involvement of Western countries in the conflict is growing every day. According to Peskov, the Kremlin draws appropriate conclusions.

The day before, on May 23, the governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, answering live on VKontakte a question about the reasons for the penetration of Ukrainian saboteurs into the region, said that he had “even more questions for the Ministry of Defense” than the inhabitants of the region. At the same time, the head of the region refused to comment on the work of the defense department, saying that it was “wrong.”

In the Kremlin declaredthat within the framework of the special operation, many working questions arise, “which are asked and answered.” Peskov called this situation normal.
