Shoigu thanked the heads of five regions for supporting the Northern Military District

A number of Russian regions are actively involved in the formation of volunteer detachments for a special military operation, as well as in work to support the families of military personnel fighting in the Northern Military District zone. This was announced by the head of the Russian military department, Sergei Shoigu, at the headquarters of the Joint Group of Forces. He recalled that 38 thousand people have recently signed up to volunteer. Many volunteers, after a six-month contract, sign a new one and again leave for the Northern Military District zone.
The Minister especially noted the work on recruiting contract soldiers and volunteers that is being carried out in Yakutia. “The head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, is personally involved in this,” Shoigu noted. According to him, the volunteer detachment from Yakutia gained military glory, and its commander Alexander Kolesov became a Hero of Russia.
Shoigu also thanked the head of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov. In the Republic they not only form volunteer units, but also pay very close attention to the families of fighters.
He named several more regions where local authorities actively support the families of military personnel of the Northern Military District. These are, in particular, the governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of the Tula region Alexey Dyumin, and the Krasnodar governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
