Shoigu suggested using advanced weapons as part of a special operation

Advanced weapons systems must be used as part of a special military operation in Ukraine, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of the board of the military department.

“It is necessary to continue the modernization and creation of promising systems with their subsequent use in the course of a special military operation,” said Shoigu (quote by RIA Novosti).

According to the minister, new methods of combat use of missile troops and artillery are being tested during the NMD. “First of all, this concerns the use of reconnaissance and strike fire systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as modern and advanced weapons,” he added.

Earlier, Shoigu said that over 300,000 reservists, including volunteers, were trained at more than 100 training grounds in Russia and Belarus in two months. About 8,000 crews of combat vehicles and tanks, air defense equipment, unmanned aircraft systems, etc. have been trained in the training centers. According to him, the servicemen received the knowledge that is necessary for the successful completion of combat missions.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
