The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, on Wednesday, speaking with an appeal to the Russians, said that as part of the partial mobilization, which the Russian president announced by his decree, students would not be called up.

“Of course, we are not talking about any mobilization of students, they continue to study,” the minister said.

Shoigu said in his address that in Ukraine “a lot of hard work is going on, the servicemen are doing it with honor.” He noted: “We are at war not so much with Ukraine as with the collective West,” which supplies Kyiv with “weapons in huge quantities.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that partial mobilization will begin in Russia from September 21.

According to him, only reserve citizens will be called up. Preference will be given to those who have already served in the army, have military specialties and relevant experience.
