Shoigu ordered to strengthen the protection of the Black Sea Fleet from attacks by Ukrainian drones

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the work of the Black Sea Fleet command post. The minister set the command the task of conducting training day and night to repel attacks by Ukraine. He also instructed to increase the survivability of ships and the security of fleet infrastructure. In particular, additionally install large-caliber machine guns on ships and vessels.

“Every day it is necessary to conduct training with personnel. Training to repel air attacks and attacks by unmanned boats. Conduct day and night so that all our crews are ready,” said Sergei Shoigu.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have repeatedly reported attacks by missiles and naval drones on Russian ships of the Black Sea Fleet. In September 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense reportedthat two Russian ships were damaged as a result of being hit by Ukrainian cruise missiles. At the end of December, the department also reported about damage to the landing ship “Novocherkassk” as a result of a missile attack. 14 March NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmedthat Ukraine attacked ships of the Black Sea Fleet with Western missiles.
