Shoigu nominated deputy platoon commander Kalashnikov for the title of Hero of Russia

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu nominated deputy platoon commander Ivan Kalashnikov with the call sign “Bolshoi” for the title of Hero of Russia. About it reports Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The military man was presented with an award “for courage and heroism” when repelling an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Urozhaynoye in the southern Donetsk direction. It is noted that the enemy forces during the battle were “several times” superior to the Russian ones.

The Ministry of Defense also published a video of the attack being repelled, in which five Russian servicemen, two of whom were wounded, confront 12 attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The department noted that Kalashnikov “skillfully led his subordinates” and “took the main heat of the battle.” They added that the unit acted “as one organism,” and emphasized that none of the Russian servicemen retreated, “maintaining their positions and putting the enemy to flight.”

About the battle near Urozhainy Ministry of Defense reported September 25. According to the military department, Ukrainian attack aircraft twice tried to attack the Russian stronghold, but were unable to penetrate the defenses. Previously, Russian military personnel were awarded the Order of Courage “for courage and professionalism.” It is clarified that Kalashnikov was previously awarded the medal “For Courage”.
