Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in the combat zone in Ukraine, where he heard reports from the Center group on “the nature of the enemy’s actions.” This was reported by press service Ministry of Defense.

The commander of the group, Colonel General Andrei Mordvichev, reported to Sergei Shoigu that despite the “whining” of the Ukrainian authorities “about the acute shortage of artillery ammunition, the intensity of the enemy’s artillery has not decreased.” Andrei Mordvichev also reported that in the Avdeevka area the enemy was thrown back more than 10 km. According to him, about 200 Ukrainian soldiers surrendered in Avdiivka, and another 100 may surrender in the coming days.

The Minister of Defense set the task of further strengthening the group with electronic warfare (EW) means. In addition, Sergei Shoigu awarded distinguished commanders with personalized firearms.

The Ministry of Defense’s release about Sergei Shoigu’s visit to the Northern Military District states that in the near future they are preparing to supply the Russian troops with drones controlled by artificial intelligence.

Avdiivka was one of the main fortified areas of Ukrainian forces near Donetsk. On February 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka “in order to avoid encirclement and (for the sake of) preserving the life and health of military personnel.”
