Shoigu: Kyiv blew up the constructions of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

On the night of June 6, Kyiv committed another terrorist attack with the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, which led to the flooding of the territories. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

“Tonight, the Kiev regime committed another terrorist crime: the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was blown up, which led to the flooding of large areas,” – said He.

The Minister noted that the incident would have severe and long-term consequences for the environment. According to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv has significantly increased the discharge of water from the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station, which aggravates the situation with the flooding of the territories. Shoigu noted that this fact only proves the “large-scale sabotage” planned in advance by Kiev.

The goal of the Ukrainian authorities is to transfer units from the Kherson direction to the area of ​​offensive operations. Shoigu noted that Kyiv made such a decision due to the lack of success in the counteroffensive. Thus, the enemy “significantly weakened its positions” in the Kherson direction, summed up Shoigu.

According to him, on the right bank of the Dnieper, the Ukrainian military began to build defensive positions, which indicates their plans to go on the defensive in this area. Kyiv carried out a diversion at the station in order to prevent the advance of the Russian army, the minister explained.

Earlier today, the mayor of Novaya Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev, said that the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was fired at around 2 am on June 6. As a result, the upper part of the HPP was destroyed, which caused an uncontrolled discharge of water. In the administration of the Novokakhovsk city district toldthat the incident at the hydroelectric power station was caused by shelling, which led to the destruction of three spans under water pressure. Presumably, the blow was delivered by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Alder MLRS (RS-2), they noted there.

In the Novokakhovsk urban district introduced local state of emergency. On the fact of the incident, the Investigative Committee of Russia aroused criminal case of a terrorist attack. According to Leontiev, the restoration of the station is impossible.

Earlier today he informedthat the water level in Novaya Kakhovka has risen by more than 11 m. The authorities expect that the level of water rise has reached a peak. According to Leontiev, the maximum rise in the water level should not exceed 12 m. It is expected that the water descend to normal levels within 72 hours, he said.
