Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu inspected the enterprise of the Almaz-Antey concern in Ulyanovsk, where state defense orders are carried out. This is stated in the message on website Ministry of Defense.
At the enterprise, the minister was informed about the early transfer of the Buk-M3 air defense division to the Russian armed forces. “According to the terms of this year’s state defense order, we are required to ship two divisions, the first division was shipped ahead of schedule in September, the second is in final assembly and configuration,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense quotes the words of the General Director of the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant Sergei Churin.
Mr. Churin added that the plant is ready to increase production volumes in the next two years. Sergei Shoigu noted that the concern’s products are in demand in the zone of military conflict with Ukraine.
In April, on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, formed air defense units. There, as the Ministry of Defense reported, they use the Buk-M3 and S-300V4 complexes, as well as the S-400 air defense systems and Pantsir-S combat vehicles.
In September, Kommersant wrote that Almaz-Antey and Rostec proposed that the government create a system for monitoring drone flights in Russia. So far the authorities have not supported the project.
