Shoigu checked the advanced positions of Russian units in the special operation zone

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made a working trip to the Southern Military District and inspected the grouping of troops in the areas of the special military operation. About it informs press service of the military department.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the army general flew over the areas where the troops are deployed and checked the forward positions of Russian units in the NVO zone, where he talked with the military. Shoigu thanked the personnel for “exemplary performance of combat missions.” In addition, the minister at the command post of the group heard reports from the commanders on the current situation and actions of the Russian troops in the operational areas.

“During the hearing of the commanders, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation paid special attention to the organization of comprehensive support for the troops, the conditions for deploying personnel in the field, as well as the work of medical and rear units,” the ministry said.

At the end of November, Shoigu informedthat over 300,000 reservists, including volunteers, were trained at more than 100 training grounds in Russia and Belarus in two months. According to him, about 8,000 crews of combat vehicles and tanks, air defense equipment, unmanned aircraft systems, etc. were trained in the training centers.

On December 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that only half of the 300,000 mobilized were in the special operation zone. Of these, he clarified, 77,000 people are in combat units, and the rest “are on the second or third lines.”

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
