Sheremetyevo Airport has installed a radar-optical complex to detect and counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to the airport’s release.
The ENO-SD complex automatically detects low-flying targets, verifies them using video images, and then creates interference for counteraction. Also, for better identification, Kaspersky Lab software will be used.
“RACOON-SD” can distinguish birds, airplanes, people, cars from UAVs (including in radio silence mode). The system excludes the use of suppression means on aircraft. The complex can also monitor ground targets and detect violations of the airport perimeter by people and wild animals.
On August 31, at the Moscow airports “Domodedovo”, “Sheremetyevo” and “Vnukovo” there was broken schedule of 139 flights. On that day, a Ukrainian drone was shot down in the sky over the Voskresensky district of the Moscow region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin statedthat the drone was flying towards the capital.
