YouGov poll: more than a third of Germans favor friendly relations with Russia
More than a third of Germans supported friendly relations with the Russian Federation, as evidenced by the results of a poll by the sociological service YouGov, which were published on Monday.
It is noted that 37% of the participants in the survey, which was commissioned by the DPA, agreed with the statement that the German government should “maintain good relations” with the Russian Federation, and every second respondent spoke out against this idea.
The agency noted that among the inhabitants of the eastern lands of Germany, there are much more supporters of friendly relations with Russia, and among the electorate of the opposition Alternative for Germany party, their share is the largest.
According to the survey, 63% of German residents see Russia as a threat, 30% of German citizens do not agree with this. It also became known that 28% of German residents regard the Russian Federation as a “potential” partner for Germany, and 62% do not share this point of view. In addition, it is specified that in the east of the country, partnership with the Russian Federation is supported much more actively than in the west.
