Gina Banfi, Shakira’s singing teacher, dies
Gina Banfi de Abello died in Colombia at the age of 92. She is remembered as one of the teachers and pioneers of choral singing, her famous students include Shakira, Maya and Nicholas Tovar.
Banfi de Abello explored the world of music from a very young age, as she herself told Huellas magazine. “I started learning piano with my sister because she failed at painting. This is exactly what my father (who was a great artist) wanted my sister Vera and me to learn. Music and art were always present in his home. “They were part of our lives,” said the great teacher.
