Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand said TASSthat severe frosts with temperatures 7…14°C below normal are predicted from February 7 to 11 in the Northwestern and Volga Federal Districts, as well as in the north and central part of the Central Federal District.

According to Mr. Vilfand, in the Murmansk and Vologda regions the minimum temperatures will reach -30°C, in the Arkhangelsk region, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Komi Republic – -32°C, in the Leningrad region and St. Petersburg – -26°C. He noted that even in Nizhny Novgorod, located to the south, the temperature will be 9…12°C below normal, dropping to –22°C.

Mr. Vilfand said that the temperature in the Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Moscow, Smolensk, Tver and Yaroslavl regions will fluctuate during the forecast period from -18°C to -26°C, in the Ryazan, Kaluga and Tula regions – from -17°C down to –22°C. Finally, according to the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, in the republics of Mari El, Chuvashia, Mordovia and Tatarstan, as well as in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kirov regions, temperatures will range from –18°C to –26°C.
