At the age of 89, the legendary bandy player, seven-time world champion and nine-time USSR champion Nikolai Durakov died. This was reported on the website of the Russian Bandy Federation.
“On March 9 in Yekaterinburg, at the age of 90, the seven-time world champion and the best player of the 20th century, the legend of Russian hockey Nikolai Durakov, passed away,” they wrote in the obituary.
The cause of death has not been announced.
Durakov was recognized as the best scorer of the World Cup in 1965, the best midfielder in 1957, 1963 and 1965, and the best striker in 1971. After finishing his career, he was engaged in coaching, working with the SKA-Sverdlovsk-2 and SKA-Sverdlovsk teams.
