Sergey Zhukov shoots new “Ranetki”

Channel STS together with the company “Hands up! Production” began filming the musical drama “Cry-Baby”. The showrunner of the series is Sergey Zhukov, and the main role of the singer Masha, who faced bullying by her peers, is played by 15-year-old Nika Zhukova. Masha’s classmates and friends are played by pop star Vanya Dmitrienko, Diana Enakaeva (Rodkom), Daniil Izotov (Last Christmas Trees), Alexey Onezhen (Prostokvashino) and others.

Sergey Zhukov, general producer, music producer, scriptwriter: “I always dreamed of popularizing live music among teenagers. So that girls and boys, as after watching Ranetki, take up the guitars. In addition, using the example of the heroine, I would like to show that music saves in difficult moments, when no one understands you, when you don’t know where and how to throw out your emotions and protests. What happens to Masha, who is not accepted at the new school.

According to the story, the architectural business of Masha’s father goes bust, and the family moves to her grandmother in the small town of Novomorsk. After the elite gymnasium on Rublyovka Masha (Nika Zhukova), it is not easy to come to terms with the life of a provincial school and local orders. New classmates led by the leader of the school and the singer Chris (Diana Enakaeva) are not happy with the new girl and make her life unbearable. The persecution gets tougher when Masha falls in love with the guy Chris (Aleksey Onezhen) and collects her band (Vanya Dmitrienko, Daniil Izotov, Sofia Nikolaeva) – “Cry-Baby”.

“This is my first big project and I’m looking forward to something big. After all, this is a tremendous experience for me, ”said Nika Zhukova, who has participated in the film Artek. Big Journey”, performances at the Children’s Musical Theater of a young actor and shooting his own clips.

Now the young actress is passionate about modern choreography, acrobatics and playing the piano. For the sake of the first leading role, Nika learned to play the guitar and took up vocals tightly, combining filming with her studies. “I study part-time, which is very convenient. I shoot during the day, and in the evenings and on weekends I get in touch with teachers. I just understand that in the future I will definitely connect my life with cinema and theater, ”Nika admits.

In each episode of the musical drama, the audience will have not only an exclusive track, but also a full-fledged clip: according to the plot, Masha fantasizes at the most difficult moments. “Each song is dedicated to some problem of the main character,” says Sergey Zhukov. – There will be two cool tracks by Vanya Dmitrienko, versions of hits by Tsoi and Gaza Strip and a lot of my material. We recorded twelve songs, which as a result will turn into an album by the Cry-Baby group.

Work on the project, including writing soundtracks, took a year and a half. Casting for the role of schoolchildren went on for four months. One of the main roles – bass guitarist Nikita in love with Masha – is played by musician Vanya Dmitrienko, known to STS viewers for his work in the TV series “Rodkom”.

“Finding a talented, singing and playing guy among actors of this age is almost impossible,” continues Zhukov. – And with Vanya we often crossed paths in our musical workshop. And he is just an example of how at the age of sixteen you can achieve great success on a national scale with your work. We must pay tribute to Vanya: he deliberately postponed the tour for the summer. And it’s worth it.”
