Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the advanced command post of the “Center” group of forces in the zone of military operation, reported defense department. There he heard a report from the commander of the group, Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev, as well as commanders and staff officers. In addition, the minister was shown Western equipment captured in battles.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu examined the Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicle, which, according to the department, was abandoned by retreating Ukrainian soldiers after being hit by an RPG-7 grenade launcher. The report also says that General Andrey Mordvichev told the minister that the equipment supplied by Western countries for the armed forces of Ukraine goes to the front without spare parts, tools and accessories. And this, according to Andrei Mordvichev, makes it impossible to quickly repair it.

In addition, as noted in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Swedish armored vehicles transferred to the Ukrainian army “have no guided weapons system and low survivability due to the high silhouette.”

Mr. Shoigu, in turn, thanked the Center grouping for the successful offensive in the Krasnoliman direction. “The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation paid special attention to the need in the course of hostilities to inflict effective preemptive fire damage on the enemy when he is knocked out of held positions. These measures will ensure the maximum safety of the lives and health of Russian military personnel,” the ministry said.

In total, Sweden planned to transfer 50 CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. The capture of the first Swedish vehicle of this type became known on 30 July. As reported then “RIA News”, the car was hit by a ZVO fighter from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher. According to the agency, the commander of the BMP was killed, and the crew “ran away.”
