Serena Williams on the reception of the public during this US Open: “Incredible and moving”

“When you imagined your last game, did it look like this?
I don’t know, I haven’t really thought about it. I really do not know. Probably not. But again, I hadn’t really thought about it.
On the court, you left the door open. Is she really?
I don’t know, I don’t think about that. But I’ve always loved Australia (smile). I’ve come a long way since Wimbledon last year. I don’t know if it was my last moment or not. Having done it at a different time is much better. I’m ready to be a mother, to explore another version of Serena. Technically, in the normal world, I’m still super young so I want to live while I’m still walking.
What are you most proud of?
Roland-Garros 2015. It’s really the moment that I take with me because I almost died there. And yet I won. So that’s pretty awesome.
“I feel like I brought something and I bring something to tennis”
How did you experience these last moments at the US Open?
I had a really good time today (Friday). Not just today, but this week was awesome. So much support, so much love. It was truly amazing and moving. I am very grateful for that. I feel like everyone wanted to push me to win this game.
How would you like to be remembered?
There are so many things left. But there is the fight. I am a fighter. I feel like I brought something and I bring something to tennis. The different looks, the clenched fists and the crazy intensity. I think the word passion is really a good word. The fact of having continued despite the ups and downs. »
